Ayurveda

" The river of Medicine, rising from an obscure past, ever-flowing, ever-growing and racing to the floodwaters of today...."

The traditional wisdom of healing which originated in India about 6000 years ago, Ayurveda is considered as one of the most ancient and holistic systems of medicine. Ayurveda is not simply a healthcare system, but a form of lifestyle adopted to maintain perfect balance and harmony with nature, within human existence. 'Ayu' represents the integrated existence of the physical body, senses and mind and 'Veda' represents ultimate awareness.

The fundamental doctrine of Ayurveda identifies the representation of the universe in every individual being and postulates that the five eternal elements function as basic constituents and protective barriers of the human body in its normal physiological condition. The method of Ayurvedic treatment is based on a unique understanding of the similarities of natural law and the working of the human body, which helps to establish a balance between the two.

The Ayurvedic way of assessment of a person's health includes determining the constitution and assessment of lifestyle, which equip the practitioner with insight into the holistic makeup of the person. The root cause rather than the symptoms of an illness are treated, by means of systematic daily regimen, medication based on herbs and therapeutic procedures.
